Entrepreneur Visa

New Zealand offers a unique opportunity for experienced and ambitious entrepreneurs through its Entrepreneur Visa program.

Designed for individuals with a proven track record in business ownership or senior management, this visa allows applicants to either buy into or establish a new business in New Zealand—creating a pathway to permanent residence.

The Entrepreneur Visa pathway consists of two stages:
  1. Entrepreneur Work Visa – A temporary visa that lets you launch or invest in a New Zealand business.
  2. Entrepreneur Resident Visa – A residence option available after successfully operating your business in New Zealand for at least two years (or six months under fast-track conditions).

Eligibility Criteria

This visa category is ideal for those who wish to make a meaningful contribution to New Zealand’s economy by creating jobs, boosting innovation, and enhancing export potential.

To qualify for the Entrepreneur Work Visa, applicants must:

  • Have relevant business experience.
  • Invest a minimum of NZ$100,000 (some exceptions apply for high-innovation businesses).
  • Score at least 120 points based on a range of factors such as age, investment capital, business experience, and the benefit the proposed business offers New Zealand.
  • Provide a comprehensive business plan.
  • Meet health, character, and English language requirements.
  • Have no history of business fraud, bankruptcy, or similar issues.
