Work and Holiday Visa – subclass 462 visa provides an opportunity for eligible tourists aged 18 to 30 to enjoy an extended holiday in Australia while engaging in short-term employment to support their finances.

  • This Australian visa is valid for 12 months and permits multiple entries and exits from Australia. 
  • Generally, visa holders can work with a single employer for up to six months and pursue studies for a maximum of four months. 
  • It’s important to note that there is an annual cap on the number of initial Work and Holiday visas granted to each country.

Eligibility

The below criteria needs to met to apply for this visa. Additional requirements may apply based on your individual circumstances.

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old (inclusive).
  • Apply for the visa from outside Australia.
  • Not be accompanied by dependent children.
  • Not have previously entered Australia on a subclass 462 or 417 visa. If you have previously entered on a subclass 462 visa, refer to the second Work and Holiday visa.
  • Hold a valid passport from one of the following countries:
  • Argentina, Austria, Chile, China (People’s Republic of), Czech Republic, Ecuador, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Uruguay, United States of America, and Vietnam.

Requirements

The visa application is submitted to the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) along with the required documents. The primary requirement is to fulfill the aforementioned criteria.

  • Additionally, meeting specific health and character standards is necessary, and you may be asked to provide proof of health and/or travel insurance.
