Skilled Independent Visa

The Skilled Independent Visa – Subclass 189 is a permanent residency option in Australia based on an individual’s merits. It is a points-based system, requiring a minimum score of 65 for eligibility.

However, meeting this score does not guarantee an invitation from the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA), as competition for this Australian visa subclass is intense.

Eligibility

  • Hold an occupation listed in the relevant skilled occupation list.
  • Obtain a favorable skills assessment for your occupation.
  • Receive an invitation to apply for the visa.
  • Be under the age of 45 when invited to apply.

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Meet the points test requirement (scoring at least 65 points, although a higher score is typically needed).
  • Meet the health and character criteria.
