Accredited Employer Work Visa

The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) enables skilled professionals to live and work in New Zealand under a specific employer and role.

From March 2025, key updates to wage thresholds, experience requirements and visa durations will enhance the scheme’s flexibility.

Eligibility at a glance

You must:

  • Be aged 55 or under at application

  • Hold a genuine, full-time job offer (minimum 30 hrs/week) from an accredited NZ employer

  • Meet skill requirements: either two years’ relevant experience or an NZQCF Level 4+ qualification

  • Provide police certificates (applicants and family members aged 17+)

  • Satisfy health standards (medical exam where required)

  • Demonstrate English proficiency for ANZSCO Level 4–5 roles

  • Intend to comply fully with visa conditions

Key requirements

Job offer & employment agreement

Include a signed agreement detailing:

  • Role, hours (≥ 30/week) and workplace

  • Salary and leave entitlements

  • Contract type (fixed-term or permanent)

Occupational registration

If your position mandates NZ registration, supply evidence of full or provisional registration.

  • Experience reduced to two years

  • Visa validity extended to three years for ANZSCO 4 and 5 roles

  • Dependent-child income threshold set at NZD 55,844pa

  • Interim-visa work rights now count towards residency pathways

Supporting documentation

  • Qualifications: certified copies, NZQA IQA where applicable

  • Registration proof (if required)

  • English-test results (for ANZSCO 4–5)

  • Certified translations for any non-English documents

Exemptions

You need no minimum skill or experience if:

  • Your role appears on the Green List
  • You hold valid occupational registration
  • You earn at least NZD 59.32/hour
  • You previously provided evidence on a successful visa
