Dependent Children and Parent Visas

New Zealand offers visa pathways for dependent children, parents and grandparents of New Zealand citizens or residents. These options balance family unity with health, character and financial safeguards. Whether joining you on a temporary basis or seeking permanent residency, there’s a category to suit your family’s needs.

Eligibility at a glance

  • Dependent Children

    • Under 20: usually included on a parent’s work or student visitor visa

    • Aged 5+: require their own student visa to attend school
