Job Check for Accredited Employers

Once you’re an accredited employer under the AEWV scheme, a Job Check is your next step.

It confirms that each role you advertise meets New Zealand’s regulatory requirements and that no suitable New Zealanders are available.

Eligibility at a glance

  • Accredited employer under the AEWV scheme

  • Job Check applied for within 90 days of your advertisement closing (if advertising was required)

  • Role meets all legislative standards (including any necessary advertising and MSD engagement)

Validity: Approved Job Checks last six months or until your accreditation expires—whichever is sooner.

Five key steps

  1. Determine if advertising is needed
    Advertising isn’t required when:
    • The role appears on the Green List; or
    • The pay rate is ≥ NZD 59.32/hour.
  2. Place your advertisement
Make genuine efforts to attract New Zealand candidates. Include in your ad:
    • Job title, location and hours
    • Duties and responsibilities
    • Pay range or guaranteed earnings
    • Minimum skills, experience and qualifications
    • ANZSCO 1–3: advertise for 14 days
    • ANZSCO 4–5: advertise for 21 days
  3. Engage with Work and Income (if required)
For ANZSCO 4–5 roles, lodge your vacancy with MSD’s Work and Income:
    • They’ll list the job and refer candidates, or
    • Confirm no suitable applicants exist
  4. Prepare your application
    Gather everything you need:
    • Confirmation of correct accreditation type
    • Job title, ANZSCO code, location and skill level
    • Proof of advertising and Work and Income engagement
    • All supporting documents
  5. Submit via Immigration Online
Complete the Job Check form and upload your evidence. You’ll receive approval within the validity period.
