You must:
Have a temporary purpose (tourism, visiting family/friends, business, or study up to three months)
Not work while in New Zealand
Demonstrate sufficient funds (yours or your sponsor’s)
Show genuine intentions to depart at visa expiry

Provide onward-travel evidence (ticket or funds)

Immigration NZ will review your travel history and personal circumstances.
Financial Support
Bank or credit-card statements, or pre-paid accommodation.
If sponsored: sponsor’s bank statements, employment details and accommodation proof.
Family Inclusion
You may include a spouse/partner and dependent children (under 20).

Health & Character
