The SESR visa is a temporary visa that allows individuals to work in specific regional areas. This visa provides a way to obtain permanent residency through the pathway to Subclass 191 visa. This visa is available to employees who have received job offers from established businesses located in designated regional areas.

 

To be eligible for the visa, the applicant:

  • There must be a genuine requirement for the visa applicant in the nominated position, which is under the direct control of the business.
  • Possess qualifications that are relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrate at least three years of full-time experience in the role after obtaining the necessary qualifications.
  • Demonstrate a genuine intention to work in the nominated position.

Eligibility:

 

Business Sponsorship

To be eligible for sponsorship, the business should be:

  • Actively and lawfully operating either in Australia or overseas but with a need for the visa applicant to establish an Australian business or fulfil contractual obligations.
  • The initial step is to obtain business sponsorship approval by submitting an application that demonstrates the following:
    • The company is legally established and currently in operation.
    • There are no adverse records or information against the company.
  • Once approved, the company assumes several sponsorship obligations, such as bearing certain costs, ensuring the employee works only in their nominated occupations, and providing equivalent terms and conditions of employment as Australian workers.
  • The company only needs to apply for the Sponsorship Business Sponsorship (SBS) once every five years.

Nominated Position Requirements

 To be eligible for nomination, the position:

  • A legitimate, full-time position that will be available for at least five years.
  • It should be located in a designated regional area.
  • It must be approved by the appropriate certification board.
  • Offering a salary that aligns with market rates.
  • Subject to Labour Market Testing (LMT).
  • Employers pay the applicable SAF levy.
  • The position should be listed in the relevant occupation list.

 

Requirements:

 

For the visa application process, the applicant for the SESR visa must demonstrate meeting certain requirements, including:

  • Be below 45 years of age.
  • Possess qualifications that are relevant to the role.
  • Have a minimum of three years of full-time, post-qualification experience in the role.
  • Undergo a skills assessment in the nominated occupation.
  • Demonstrate a sincere intention to work in the nominated position.
  • Fulfil any compulsory licensing, registration, or professional membership prerequisites.
  • Arrange sufficient health insurance coverage.
  • Meet the requirements related to health, character, and English proficiency.
