Business Innovation Stream

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be under 55 years of age when invited to apply, unless your business will bring exceptional economic benefits.
  • Have a successful business career.
  • Have no involvement in unacceptable activities.
  • Demonstrate competent English language skills.
  • Achieve a minimum score of 65 on the points test.
  • Show that in two of the last four fiscal years preceding the invitation, you had an ownership stake in one or two businesses with a combined turnover of at least AUD $750,000 in each of those two years.
  • Have personal and business assets totalling at least AUD $1,250,000, either individually or jointly with your partner.
 
Business Visa
Business Investor Stream

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be under 55 years of age at the time of invitation, unless the State or territory government agency determines your investment will bring exceptional economic benefits.
  • Be in Australia at the time of application and decision, holding a substantive visa or a BVA, BVB, or BVC.
  • Receive a nomination from an Australian State or territory government agency before being invited to apply.
  • Have directly managed a qualifying business with a 10% ownership interest or made an eligible investment of at least AUD $2.5 million in at least one of the five fiscal years preceding the invitation.
  • Possesses business and personal assets with a net value of at least AUD $2.5 million for the two fiscal years prior to the invitation.
  • Score at least 65 points on the points test.
  • After lodging the application, make a designated investment of at least AUD $2.5 million, distributed as follows:
  1. At least AUD $500,000 in venture capital and growth private equity funds that support start-ups and small private companies.
  2. At least AUD $750,000 in approved managed funds investing in emerging companies listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
  3. A “balancing investment” of at least AUD $1.25 million in managed funds.
  • Demonstrate at least functional English proficiency.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
 
Significant Investor Stream

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be in or outside of Australia at the time of application, and if in Australia, hold a substantive visa, a BVA, a BVB, or a BVC.
  • Receive a nomination from an Australian State or Territory government agency or Austrade before receiving an invitation to apply.
  • Make a complying investment of AUD $5 million upon invitation, with a genuine intention to hold the investment for 4 years. This investment should include:
  1. AUD $1 million in venture capital and growth private equity funds that support start-ups and small private companies.
  2. AUD $2.5 million in approved managed funds.
  3. AUD $1.5 million in managed funds as a ‘balancing investment’.
  • Demonstrate at least functional English proficiency.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
 
Entrepreneur Stream

To be eligible for this visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Obtain nomination from a State or Territory government agency prior to receiving an invitation to apply.
  • Be 55 years of age or younger when invited to apply, unless the State or Territory government agency recognizes the exceptional economic benefits of your proposed entrepreneurial activity.
  • Engage in or propose to engage in a complying entrepreneur activity in Australia.
  • Conduct entrepreneurial activity in Australia that is linked to an innovative endeavour resulting in either the commercialization of a product or the establishment of an enterprise/franchise in Australia.
  • Submit a business plan outlining your entrepreneurial activity.
  • Demonstrate competent English language skills.
  • Meet health and character requirements.
