Advice on Short-Term Projects:
Certain businesses undertake short term projects including fly-in/fly-out arrangements, contract work and secondments. Where required, we are able to advise you in relation to the most appropriate visa for your employees. We will ensure that we formulate the most efficient strategy that enables you to meet any applicable project deadlines and is best aligned with your company goals.
Business Compliance
The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) conducts routine monitoring activities to ensure that sponsors adhere to their sponsorship obligations. The department also requires employers and sponsored employees ensure and uphold their visa conditions.
- Businesses are monitored during the sponsorship period as well as up to five years after the sponsorship ceases. They are required to:
- provide records and information to the Minister.
- inform when certain events occur.
- ensure the visa holder participates in the nominated occupation, program or activity.
- not recover from, transfer or charge certain costs to another person.
- pay travel costs to enable sponsored persons to leave Australia.
- pay costs to remove unlawful non-citizens.
- provide training to Australians and permanent residents.
- not engage in discriminatory practices.
Business directors and managers may become liable and face substantial penalties and fines for non-compliance with immigration laws.
