The Global Talent Independent visa is a permanent residence visa intended for applicants with a globally recognized track record of exceptional achievement or specialized assistance to the Australian Government in security matters. This program aims to boost Australia’s innovation and tech sectors, fostering skill transfer, innovation, and job creation for the benefit of Australians locally.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet rigorous criteria and exhibit an outstanding record of professional accomplishment. This may involve holding senior positions, having patents, receiving professional accolades, and/or publishing internationally or being affiliated with prestigious organisations.
- Additionally, Master’s and PhD students who possess exceptional talent and international recognition in the designated target sectors are also eligible for the Global Talent Australian visa.
The designated sectors include:
- The streamlined Global Talent Visa Program pathway, which is intended for individuals with skills in specified priority sectors who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI).
- The Distinguished Talent pathway, which caters to applicants working in other sectors.

Requirements
You will need to provide the following as evidence to apply for the visa:
- To express interest (EOI), individuals need to provide their details through the Department of Home Affairs(DOHA) contact form.
- Once a unique identifier is obtained, the application for a Global Talent visa can be submitted via the same contact form.
- It is crucial to obtain an endorsement from a respected nominator in the same field, who is either an Australian citizen, permanent resident, eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organization.
To receive priority consideration for the Global Talent Visa, applications must fulfill one of the following requirements:
- Present written confirmation from an Australian employer offering a job in Australia with an annual salary equal to or exceeding the Fair Work high income threshold.
- Demonstrate that the primary applicant’s current earnings are at least equal to the Fair Work high income threshold.
- Provide evidence indicating that the primary applicant is likely to secure a salary equal to or surpassing the Fair Work high income threshold.
Applicants who have completed one of the following degrees can consider applying for the Global Talent Australian visa:
- A doctoral degree (PhD) within the past three years or expect to submit their thesis within the next six months.
- A Bachelor Honours degree or Master’s degree obtained within the past three years, with a cumulative grade-point average of 80 or above out of 100.
Students or graduates applying for the Global Talent Stream visa who meet the mentioned criteria will be eligible for expedited visa processing if their studies were focused on one of the ten priority sectors and they can demonstrate a current or future annual salary equal to or exceeding the Fair Work high income threshold.
